BERSERK PANELS

Just a few panels from the Berserk manga I colored years ago with copics. I still like them enough to post somewhere besides my mostly defunct Berserk tumblr.

This last one looks strange because I used a posterization effect, otherwise the coloring is "real".

It vexes me to no end that they've made it difficult to make decent looking image posts here, as in, to align them side-by-side it's nearly impossible. Visually I will loathe how this blog will look, but I must keep struggling.

I have a lot more, I am not sure where they are unfortunately! It's so disappointing to lose digital files over multiple computers. I have the original colorings somewhere, but again, I don't know where some went.

This next one is massive irl (for me, at least- it's probably the largest thing I ever colored). I printed the manga panel onto art paper, I -think- it's 12"x18". I photographed it at multiple times during the coloring process.

This was a really fun project tho, and ultimately I like the process coloring more than the end result. The whole thing took many many hours and I colored the hair pretty impulsively (if that's not obvious lmao). I added black outlines with a brush pen & white stray hairs with a gel pen at the end. Glitter on the lips ofc. This was scary to work on tbh!! It was so beautiful and magnificent and huge irl that I was scared to completely butcher it. I still have it, but I don't know what to do with it.

This goes without saying but all the manga panels on this page were drawn by Kentaro Miura, may he rest in peace. Sorely missed.

THE FINE ART OF YOUTUBE THUMBNAILERY

I so often laugh out loud at YT thumbnails that I thought I'd compile some. Unfortunately I haven't saved any from before this very day (July 2, 2024), but a few today sparked this obviously brilliant idea. I think I'll make this into something I regularly post about so I don't have a folder full of thumbnails that I might eventually lose interest in or forget about 🤔

Up for today's consideration; I Am Rob and Tragienie (these links open in a new window and go to their YT pages). These are two of my more recent favorite YT gamers, they're both so funny and it's nice to stream them while knitting or making art. I love their over the top thumbnails, tbh I doubt I'd've clicked on their videos if not for their ridiculous thumbnails.

Rob fighting for his life! 😔

I nearly Platinum'd RDR2 but I don't have friends that would help me get the online shit, lmao. Other than that, I'd have it!!! This is a miniature tangent I guess but I've put 1200 earth hours into that goddamned game, I deserve trophies imo >:( ANYHOW, Rob is hilarious and very fun to watch play games and I recommend giving his channels a shot if you like watching this sort of shit.

Here we have Tragie- oh god, he's so funny. I love watching his videos, would love to catch a live sometime. His acting skills, his subtlety, the faces he pulls during moments of scheming or ridiculousness, just perfection ... no other streamer has made me laugh so consistently with their silent deviousness alone. Here is just a sampling;

Apologies for using only left-oriented faces, the dang timer obscures the greatness.

Oh right, there's a bonus entry to this post; grumpy artist. What a cool guy, I love his work. He's a painter who shares his process, often multiple times a day in short chunks and there's something about his thumbnails that I love. I hesitate to say they're funny because I don't think it's entirely on purpose, though he IS very funny sometimes so maybe he does find it humorous to some extent.

Not only are his videos educational and have a nice vibe, his work is incredible??? He only has 2k subscribers at this point and I can see him going far with this, he's very consistent (currently he's uploaded 1.1k videos) along with incredible skill & content. His ability to find shadow shapes and silhouettes out of seemingly nowhere is astounding to me. I'm very grateful for his uploads.

I don't have anything more to add to this for now, and dealing with blogger's annoying placement of things is making me a little insane so it'll have to do. I mostly want to put out some appreciation for some folks' thumbnail work, a good thumb will draw them in, especially if they're fun or charming (even if unintentional).

YARNPOSTING

i lost some steam in the fountain pen collecting and subsequent ink collecting (surely there will be posts about this) and fell back on ye olde knitting habit. this has resulted in more yarn collecting even though i've already amassed more yarn than i'll be able to use before i die, for sure, but i mean. how can i NOT get some beautiful yarns that are being discontinued or old favorites that were discontinued years ago. i don't have a choice imo.

more than anything i need another blog post to figure out the crapass layout nonsense with the limited tools on this site. i cannot really complain to be fair, because i am wayyyyyyyyyyy too mf lazy to deal with building my own site from scratch again, even with provided templates. i am in my forties now marie grow up.

ah- but a stash destroyer project i bought a pattern for;

festival cardigan - photo & pattern by suzy rai

it's so cute, idek how to act. amazingly i already have the 10 & 15mm needles needed for it. will update if i ever find the motivation to start it.

in the meantime i've been plugging away at using up a ton of sock weight yarns to make a really hideous blanket that i started at least a decade ago. it's pairing very nicely with half-watching horrible episodes of the bachelor & bachelor in paradise.

in the last month i've knit four hats a shawl, a very long unfinished scarf and a chicken.

  a russian pattern i downloaded years ago called FIRS (discontinued)

a stripey hat i knit for ash, made from yarns i dyed yeaaaaars ago

that goddamned bird

a rare shawl that i don't know how to fucking wear (decibel by lisa mutch)

to end this post i just want to add that i've had "almost paradise" stuck in my head for days, iykyk, and i don't mean that in a positive way if i'm being honest

HI

 i wanted to initiate some sort of online diarything/ writing ritual again, without the impermanence and pressures of being on social media. why not try this place again? this post is a first and is surely lacking content, but i must start somewhere to establish a creaky foundation once more.

a few weeks ago i was looking through my letter pile from middle/high school. these were all in a shoebox at my mom's house for the last 2 decades and some of it is incredible. some of it is horrifying. the horrifying things including teenage nonsense and a letter from Ben fucking Weasel telling me i was stupid more or less. i was 13 when i wrote to him, i don't regret it (or maybe i do? his reply is awful, but hilarious). i don't know, this must've been from 1993 or 1994 at the latest.

more importantly i found a small pile of film negatives that i haven't seen in at least 20 years. some of these photos i don't know if i saw at all (beyond my immediate dismissal of them and throwing away of bad ones). humbling experience! incredible and terrible photos.

at holly's house, sue (i think) is beneath me evidenced only by a foot

 aside from the first one these were taken in my room in 1995. the dudes in the bottom image are seth and a guy named eric (iirc), who i only met a few times (iirc). this is what weirdo teens were doing in port saint lucie florida in the 90s, before murder parties became the norm.

i thought these goofy ass pictures would be a good place to start blogging again.
